The Cure For A Case Of The Mondays

On Monday, after we got Beach Fever in the Vineyard, we jetted (Ford Flexed?) up to Ogunquit, where our friends’ parents had a rental house. Sure, you might say a friends’ parents is a bit of a loose connection to descend on them with four people on a Monday, but you’re clearly not an O’Rourke. Plus, it’s the Chans, and they’re like our JP family.

The waves at Moody Beach were the biggest and the water the coldest out of all the beaches we’ve been to this summer, but that didn’t stop us from some serious beach action.

In fairness though, this is where you’ll find George on any beach.

George & Eliot played “Ready, Set, Go!” about a hundred times.

And I took about 98 photos of it.

Have I mentioned Orla yet? It's like all my friends are conspiring to make me want a third baby. (Cough, cough, Cindy & Jean)

We had record-breaking temps that day, so we went home after lunch time to cool off and nap the little guys. For those of you keeping score at home, this marks the third time George has taken a nap with another little kid in the same room (score!).

I’ll be honest; at this point, I’m phoning it in on the nap time activities.

After naps, we headed back to the beach, where we basically just had a big magic hour photo shoot.

These two have been friends since they were 3-weeks old, and frenemies since they were about 3-years old.

This pretty much captures their personalities: Hazy is fun, silly, and calm enough to pose for a photo; George is go-go-go and always having fun.

I love this pic. The reason they look so badass is that Hazy is on a mission to tattle on George and George is preparing his defense.

Then we had a delicious dinner off the grill, and while everyone was helping make dinner, I was the a-hole making my fantasy football picks for my draft. However, I did help cut some buns in half and I did draft Tom Brady, so it’s all good. (First game’s Thursday – wish Team Heavy Flow luck!)

Remember: the key to a successful family dinner date is the kids’ table.

Post-dinner entertainment with Granddad (which my kids started calling him, btw)

I think it’s pretty obvious right now that we have the best friends in the world. And I haven’t even gotten to Wednesday yet! Thank you, Marie, Annabella and Granddad/Tony, for a wonderful day.

  1. Wait, you did this all today? Beach two times, stayed for dinner, fantasy draft, AND posted this (and pre dated it for tomorrow btw). You really are a super woman! And the Chans are awesome that’s for sure!
